Wellness is a fast-growing segment in consumer products and uses an increasing amount of packaging material. The global market for, for instance, dietary supplements is anticipated to grow at an annual rate of almost 10% between now and 2022.
A dietary supplement is a product intended for ingestion that contains a “dietary ingredient” that adds further nutritional value to one’s diet. Wellness products are usually packaged in anything from general bottles to blister packs or unique custom designs – most of these are plastic, which without proper recycling ends up in landfills.
When designing, consider that the packaging needs to ensure that the quality of the product stays intact and is labelled as specified. Could the packaging, for example, help the customer in keeping track of dietary plans?
